A Blooming Outfitter 2009
19 January 2010
In our development strategy, we have planned three years of intensive construction. As a result, 2009 has been busy in this respect. Six new cabins are added to the eight available from last year.
The Troll, on Lake Yvon, can host 4-6 people with 2 double and 2 single beds in two rooms. It is an especially well insulated cabin, warm and friendly. It is also very easy to access, hidden 70m from a main road. The shell from this cabin was very close to the main road; it has been moved and transformed: the attic was insulated and changed into a beautiful room. Of course, all the equipment has been changed. It has been classed 4 stars by the Québec Outfitter Federation.
The Farfadet, on lake Judy, has also been completely rebuilt. The original hull of 14X16 has been re-oriented by 90°, and then enlarged towards the back in order to make two beautiful bedrooms, one upstairs and the other one on ground level. A complete bathroom and a closed veranda have also been added and the inside equipment was completely changed. This chalet, built at the end of a small road of 1500 foot is out of the main roads, on a trout lake exclusively for its tenants.
The Goblin, on lake Goose, was entirely built this summer. It measure 20 x 24 foot on two floors, plus a veranda. It can host up to 8 or 9 people in three closed bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and one well equipped kitchen. The veranda, closed with mosquito nets, is equipped with a barbecue and nicely situated to enjoy long summer evenings outside. This is the farthest chalet, with its closest neighbour at 9 kilometres, but it is especially privileged for its fishing opportunities, especially the river Boulé, very peaceful but yet wild. The lake Doride is also accessible from there; it is a lake that has almost not been fished in for the last ten years, and it hosts very large trout. Other beautiful and well stocked lakes can be found in that area.
The chalet on lake Ducharme has also been renovated this year. In order to access the site, we first had to re-open 4km or road and build a small bridge. It was worth it as we now have a small and beautiful cabin perfect for a couple. Although it is small, it still encompasse a full bathroom and a fridge of normal size. It also has a veranda with a superb and peaceful view on the lake. Lake Ducharme is rather large and profound. It has been seeded with trout, but for those of you who prefer Pike, lake Hamel is also offered in exclusivity to the tenants of this cabin.
On lake Perchaude, we have built a new cabin as the old one was too close to the lake to install toilets. It is now situated higher up, which widen its vues on the lake. In order to do this, we have had to divert the road that was running in its present location, but it was worth it as we now have a beautiful chalet, comfortable. At 20km form the village (only 12 of which are on gravel road), it is the closest to civilisation. It can accommodate 4 people in on large bedroom in the attic. It is of course equipped with a full bathroom, a large fridge, a barbecue and a small gas stove with two rings. The surroundings are especially suited to fishers, as it is near two large rivers (Laviolette and du Milieu) for Pike and Balck Bass. A few seeded lakes are within 5 minutes of car and so is Lake Laviolette for those of you who prefer Lake Trout. No pictures of this cabin are yet available as it was finished on the day of the first real snow storm and we have not had the opportunities to get there now that the roads are not passable.
Le Refuge, on Lake Sylvain, is also a realisation to be proud of; this small log cabin was build with wood harvested in the immediate surroundings. It is not without its charms and will accommodate people wishing to enjoy our pathways. A few lakes seeded with trout are situated around, and the large Lake Murray is 2 km away. To start with, we were planning to build a rough cabin, but we liked it so much that we decided to install water and shower nonetheless. As it is small (14′ x 18′) and the beds are upstairs, it is easy to heat and it will thus make a good shelter for snow showing, cross-country skiing and dog sledging next winter.
